James Findley Hit and Killed by Vehicle in South Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, CA (February 12, 2019) – A vehicle hit and killed James Findley Monday night in South Los Angeles. The February 11 accident, which occurred in the Florence neighborhood, may have involved a second vehicle.
Reports say that a witness reported to police that two vehicles were driving at fast speeds down South Broadway. The time was roughly 10:25 p.m. One of the vehicles struck a bicyclist who was traveling across West 82nd Street, George Hoopes said. Hoopes is a sergeant with the Los Angeles Police Department.
Respondents arrived and pronounced the victim deceased at the accident scene. Authorities identified the victim as Findley, who was 55 years old.
The person who was driving the vehicle that hit Findley stayed at the scene. He was identified as a man who is 25 to 30 years old. The driver had also hit several vehicles that were parked, and a tree, reports say.
Police are looking for the person who drove the second vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle did not stay at the accident site. The driver of the second vehicle, and the type of vehicle the person drove, have not been described.
According to reports, investigators have not said if the vehicles had been engaged in racing before the accident happened.
