Hit-and-run Driver Strikes Bicyclist in Los Angeles’ Westlake Neighborhood; Video Released
LOS ANGELES, CA (May 23, 2019) – A hit-and-run driver struck and left a bicyclist injured in Los Angeles’ Westlake neighborhood on May 11, and on May 22, officials released video of the incident. Police are seeking to identify the driver in the incident are are asking for help from the public.
The May 11 incident occurred where Bonnie Brae Street and Seventh Street intersect. The time was roughly 3:20 a.m.
Video from a surveillance camera recorded an SUV, light in color, making a turn to the left onto Bonnie Brae Street. The SUV struck a person riding a bicycle. The impact sent the victim into the windshield of the vehicle, and the victim fell onto the road. The person in the vehicle drove around the injured bicyclist, and left the scene.
Respondents arrived and transported the victim to the hospital. The injuries he suffered included a broken leg, for which he received treatment.
