LOS ANGELES, CA (August 2, 2018) – A hit-and-run driver struck and dragged a woman for three blocks in Los Angeles Thursday morning. The accident occurred close to East 84th Place and South Central Avenue.
The time was roughly 1:00 a.m.
Police received a call that someone found a body on the road. Sergeant Jeffrey Phelps of the Los Angeles Police Department said police found the woman mangled on the road. She was deceased.
She was described only as a woman in her forties, who was a resident local to the area. Her identity was not yet released.
The woman was struck three blocks away from where her body lay, police believe. Responders pronounced the woman dead at the scene of the accident.
Investigators are exploring information about the vehicle and suspect who hit the woman. A truck may have been involved, they believe, as many trucks often travel on South Central Avenue. The driver may not have been aware that the truck hit someone.
Investigators will examine businesses nearby to see if they can locate videos with footage of the accident.
