Man Killed by Hit-and-run Driver in Valley Village Area of Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, CA (June 21, 2019) – Gennday Bolotsky was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver early in the morning on Monday in the San Fernando Valley. The June 17 incident occurred in the Valley Village neighborhood of Los Angeles, close to where Wilkinson Avenue and Magnolia Boulevard intersect.
The time was roughly 5:35 a.m.
Reports say Bolotsky had been heading northward on foot on Wilkinson Avenue, within a crosswalk that is marked. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a vehicle that was traveling eastbound on Magnolia Boulevard struck him.
Video captured by a surveillance camera was released by the victim’s family. It recorded a vehicle—described as a pickup truck—crashing into Bolotsky. The pickup, reports say, paused briefly, and then drove over the victim’s body as he lay in the road.
Reports say the surveillance video shows another person who had been crossing the street on Magnolia and witnessed what happened. The witness, described as a man, also did not stop to help Bolotsky.
Responders arrived and took Bolotsky to the hospital; he died from his injuries. He was 91 years old.
The pickup truck involved in the incident was described as white in color, with a camper shell, also white, and a cargo carrier. The driver has not been described.
