Woman Killed in Los Angeles Crash; Two Children Critically Injured
LOS ANGELES, CA (December 2, 2019) – Felicita Lemus was killed in a crash Friday night in South Los Angeles, and two children were critically injured. The November 29 incident occurred in the neighborhood of Green Meadows, on East Golden Avenue in the 800 block, and near McKinley Avenue.
The time was roughly 11:30 p.m., Nicholas Prange said. Prange is a spokesperson with the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Reports say two vehicles—described as an SUV and a car—collided. Responders arrived and found that one of the drivers—identified only as a woman—was trapped in the wrecked vehicle. They pronounced her deceased at the incident site.
Officials with the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner later identified the woman as Felicita Lemus, a resident of Los Angeles. She was 52 years old.
Two children were reported to have been occupants of the vehicle that Lemus was driving. Responders transported the two children to a hospital. Their condition was described as critical.
Reports say that a family member described the injuries of one of the children as fractures to the face. The other child suffered a brain bleed, and injuries to his neck and liver, according to the family member.
No details have been reported on the person who was driving the other vehicle involved in the collision. It is not known if the person suffered injuries in the incident.
The identity of the other driver, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported. It is not known if anyone had been a passenger in the other vehicle.
Investigators are continuing their work of gathering information and details to understand how the crash occurred, and what factors contributed to it.
