Driver Suspected of Intentionally Striking Two Men, Killing One in West Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, CA (April 5, 2021) – One man died early in the morning on Sunday after he, and another man, were allegedly struck on purpose by a driver in West Los Angeles. The April 4 incident occurred on San Vicente Boulevard in the 11600 block.
The time was roughly a little after midnight, Los Angeles Police said.
Authorities received reports about a hit-and-run collision, and when they came to the site, they saw two men had been hit by a vehicle. The vehicle had dragged one of the victims more than 200 yards, according to police.
The victim who was dragged died at the incident site. His identity has not been reported.
Responders transported the other victim to the hospital. His current condition is not known. He has not been identified in reports.
The vehicle the suspect had been driving was located by officers not far from the crash site. Authorities arrested the suspect driver on suspicion of murder and assault with a deadly weapon. He was identified as Pedro Flores, 34 years old.
Investigators with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department–in whose jurisdiction the incident occurred–discovered that the victim who was hit and killed, and the suspect driver, had an argument prior to the crash. Authorities allege that Flores entered his vehicle and struck both men on purpose.
Authorities said the two victims and the suspect driver were transients; they resided next to the Veterans Administration in the Federal Enclave.
