Cars and Big Rig Collide on I-5 in Los Angeles, Closing Freeway For Hours
LOS ANGELES, CA (May 20, 2019) – A big rig and at least three cars collided on the I-5 Freeway late at night on Sunday, closing the freeway for hours. The May 19 accident occurred on the northbound side of the freeway, in the area of East Los Angeles, close to Indiana Street.
The time was roughly 11:20 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Reports say the big rig overturned. No details have been reported on how the collision happened, nor any description of the cars involved. Elizabeth Kravig, who is an officer with the California Highway Patrol, said the center divider had been broken.
Respondents from Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived on site to help. No details have been reported on the people who were driving each vehicle, including their names, ages, gender, and cities of residence. It is not known if anyone else had been traveling in any of the vehicles. Reports do not say if anyone was hurt, and it is not known if anyone was taken to a hospital.
