Bicyclist Killed in Hit-and-run Crash in Koreatown Neighborhood of Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, CA (February 20, 2019) – A bicyclist was killed by a hit-and-run driver early in the morning on Wednesday in Los Angeles’ Koreatown neighborhood. The February 20 accident occurred on Wilshire Boulevard close to South Berendo Street, and to the west of it.
The time was roughly 3:30 a.m., Elaine Morales said. Morales is a captain with the Los Angeles Police Department.
Reports say the driver who hit the bicyclist did not remain at the accident scene. The bicyclist, who was down in the street, was then struck by a second vehicle. Respondents arrived and pronounced the victim deceased at the accident scene. The identity of the victim has not been reported. He was described as in his 30s, and Hispanic.
The person who drove the second vehicle stayed on site after the incident. The identity of the second driver has not been reported.
According to reports, investigators are looking for video that surveillance cameras in the area might have captured which shows details about the first vehicle and the driver. The investigation is continuing.
