Los Angeles, CA – 1 Man killed and a Woman Critically injured in a Hit-And-Run at Sherman Way and Vineland Avenue

Los Angeles, CA (June 7, 2018) – According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a hit-and-run crash near the intersection of Sherman Way and Vineland Avenue left 1 man dead and seriously injured a woman in Sun Valley. The accident happened early Thursday morning, June 7th at around 3:30 a.m. when officers say that the driver of a Nissan Murano traveling westbound on Sherman Way lost control of his car and crashed into a parked car coming to a rest after striking a traffic signal leaving a wreckage behind. The impact of the 1st collision caused the 2nd car to crash into a 3rd parked car. Fortunately there were no passengers in the 3rd parked car.
Police stated that the Nissan Moreno was allegedly speeding before the crash occurred. Of the 4 passengers reported being in the car, both the driver and 1 of the passengers fled the scene. The 2 passengers left behind were ejected from the car during impact and identified as 23-year-old, Jesus Alberto Torres and a 37-year-old woman whose name was not released. Jesus Alberto Torres died at the scene and the 37-year-old woman suffered major injuries and was transported to the nearby hospital. There is no information of the 2 passenger’s identities that fled the scene. LAPD are continuing their investigation to gather more information.
