Suspected DUI Driver Launches Vehicle in Air in Long Beach Roundabout; Parked Vehicles Damaged
LONG BEACH, CA (February 13, 2020) – Early in the morning on Thursday, a suspected DUI driver went through a Long Beach roundabout and went airborne before crashing and damaging parked vehicles. The February 13 incident occurred where Daisy Avenue and West 6th Street is located.
The time was roughly 2:00 a.m., according to Lt. Brown who is with Long Beach Police.
Reports say video captured the incident, and shows a vehicle heading directly into the roundabout and then becoming airborne. The incident threw a massive boulder out of the traffic circle, which then hit a vehicle that was parked nearby.
The force of the boulder striking the parked vehicle shoved the vehicle that was struck into the vehicle parked ahead of it. Neither of the parked vehicles have been described, and their owners have not been identified.
The vehicle that was being driven by the suspected DUI driver—described as a BMW—stops moving near the crash site. Responders arrived, and reports say the driver was not hurt in the incident.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI. Her identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
Investigators are continuing their work of gathering information regarding the incident.
