Woman Dies After Driver Allegedly Hits Her Intentionally in Long Beach
LONG BEACH, CA (December 24, 2019) – Elizabeth Perez Espino died in the hospital after a driver allegedly struck her intentionally in Long Beach last week. The December 15 incident occurred on West Anaheim Street in the 400 block.
The time was roughly 3:30 a.m.
Reports say Espino and two suspects—identified as Harrison Samuel Bowser, 30 years old and a resident of Los Angeles; and Samantha Jo Smith, 26 years old and a resident of Long Beach—came to the site of the incident together.
According to investigators, an argument ensued which became physical between the victim and the other woman. The man is alleged to have driven the vehicle and hit the victim, then fleeing the scene.
On Sunday, Espino died from injuries she suffered. She was 25 years old, and a resident of Long Beach.
Authorities later located the two suspects and arrested them. According to reports, Bowser had been charged with assault with a deadly weapon and felony hit-and-run. Smith had been charged with assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury.
The charges were made prior to Espino’s death. The two suspects could face other charges. Investigators are continuing their efforts to collect details and evidence regarding the incident.
