Crash Involving 3 Vehicles Smashes Fire Hydrant and Building in Long Beach
LONG BEACH, CA (October 17, 2018) – A crash involving three vehicles injured three people in the afternoon on Tuesday in Long Beach. The October 16 accident occurred on Wardlow Road, near Lemon Avenue, according to Brian Fisk. Fisk is a spokesperson with the Long Beach Fire Department.
The time was roughly 12:15 p.m.
According to police, a vehicle—described as a Toyota Prius, red in color—was traveling on Lemon Avenue heading south. It struck a vehicle—described as a Toyota Corolla, gray in color—that was traveling through the intersection heading east.
After the collision, the Corolla struck a fire hydrant and then hit a light pole. It then struck a building on the intersection’s southeast corner, Nancy Pratt said. Pratt is a spokesperson with the Long Beach police.
Subsequent to the initial crash, the Prius then struck a Nissan, gray in color, that had been parked on Lemon Avenue. The Prius came to rest on top of the hood of the Nissan.
Responders took the driver of each vehicle, and a person who had been traveling as a passenger in the Corolla to the hospital.
No details have yet been reported on the identities of the victims.
Investigators are continuing their examination of the crash information.
