Container Loader at Port of Long Beach Traps Woman in Truck Underneath
LONG BEACH, CA (December 10, 2020) – Early on Wednesday night in Long Beach, a container loader pinned a woman in a truck underneath. The December 9 incident occurred at the Port of Long Beach; the specific site has not been described.
The time was roughly a little before 8:00 p.m., Jack Crabtree said. Crabtree is a public relations officer for the Long Beach Fire Department.
No details have been reported on how the truck ended up beneath the container loader. Responders arrived and worked to free a woman who was trapped inside the truck.
Numerous search-and-rescue teams and fire engines arrived on scene and labored to free the woman from the wreckage.
According to Crabtree, the extraction was technical. The complexity was due to two vehicles that needed to be stabilized so rescuers could cut into the wreckage and free the woman.
The woman was identified only as in her 60s; her name and city of residence have not been reported.
Reports do not say if she was injured in the incident.
Investigators are working on the details and information related to the incident to understand how it happened.
