Woman Identified as Person Killed in Crash on Highway 1 Near Lompoc
LOMPOC, CA (February 20, 2020) – Selena Araiza was identified by the California Highway Patrol as the person who was killed last week in a collision near Lompoc. The February 14 incident occurred on Highway 1, near Santa Rosa Road, and to the south of it.
The time was roughly 6:15 p.m.
Reports say Araiza had been traveling as a passenger in a vehicle described as a Nissan Sentra. Another vehicle, which had been heading north on the highway and in the opposite direction of the Nissan, went off the roadway’s right side. The other vehicle swerved back across the road and hit the Nissan Araiza had been traveling in.
Araiza died at the incident site. She was a resident of Santa Barbara, 24 years old.
The person who had been driving the Nissan has not been identified in reports, including name, age, gender, and city of residence. Responders transported the driver to a hospital in the area with injuries that were described as major. The current condition of the person is not known.
The person who had been driving the vehicle that struck the Nissan was identified only as a man who is a resident of Lompoc, 55 years old. Responders transported him to a local hospital. The injuries he suffered were described as major.
