Carlsbad Police Pursuit Ends With An Accident and a Woman Arrested
Carlsbad, CA (December 14, 2023) – Authorities have identified 40-year-old Lindsey Roberts as the alleged DUI driver involved in a high-speed pursuit that culminated in a multi-vehicle crash on La Costa Avenue Sunday evening, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
Lindsey Roberts, Driving A Black Toyota Was Swerving Across Lanes On The 5 Freeway When Pursuit Began
The incident unfolded on December 10, around 9:15 p.m., when a deputy observed a black Toyota Corolla swerving across lanes on the 5 Freeway. Attempting to rectify the situation, the deputy initiated a traffic stop, but Lindsey Roberts failed to yield, sparking a pursuit.
The pursuit took a dangerous turn as the Toyota, driven by Lindsey Roberts, reportedly ran multiple red lights and traveled against traffic. Although the pursuit temporarily halted, the deputy continued tracking the Toyota from its last known location.
The Force of the Accident Caused One Vehicle Off The Road
Shortly thereafter, the Toyota collided with two other vehicles at the intersection of La Costa Avenue and El Camino Real. The force of the impact caused one of the vehicles to careen off the roadway, resulting in injuries to its 41-year-old driver.
Emergency response teams swiftly transported the injured driver to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Meanwhile, Lindsey Roberts, the driver of the Toyota, faced extrication and sustained significant injuries. Subsequently, authorities arrested her on suspicion of an outstanding felony arrest warrant and felony evading.
The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is actively investigating the incident, aiming to piece together the events leading up to the high-speed pursuit and subsequent crash.
