Long Beach Police Seeking Witnesses After Motorcyclist Dies After Crash
LONG BEACH, CA (April 11, 2025) — Leonard Tanguay, a 70-year-old Cerritos man has died from injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash that occurred one week earlier at a Long Beach intersection, authorities confirmed.
The Long Beach Police Department identified the victim as Leonard Tanguay. He passed away on March 31 while hospitalized following the collision, which took place around 8:50 p.m. on March 24 at the intersection of Studebaker Road and Atherton Street.
Leonard Tanguay Was On on Studebaker Road When He Struck A Hyundai
According to police, Tanguay was riding a 2022 Yamaha motorcycle southbound on Studebaker Road when a 2011 Hyundai made a left-hand turn onto Atherton Street, crossing into the motorcyclist’s path. The motorcycle collided with the vehicle, resulting in serious injuries to Leonard Tanguay.
Tanguay was transported to the hospital, where he remained in critical condition before succumbing to his injuries a week later.
Leonard Tanguay Was A Well Rounded Guy In His lIfe
A retired Vice President and Commercial Loan Officer for Pacific Western Bank, Tanguay was known for his diverse interests, including motorcycling, technology, backpacking, amateur radio, and independent studies in philosophy and theology, according to an online biography.
Investigators say speed, impairment, and distracted driving do not appear to be factors in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
