Four People and Two Dogs Killed in Crash in Lancaster
LANCASTER, CA (August 16, 2019) – A crash in the afternoon on Wednesday in Lancaster killed four people and two dogs. The August 14 incident occurred where West Avenue H and 30th Street West is located.
The time was a little after 12:00 p.m., the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.
Reports say that a vehicle—described as a Toyota Avalon—had been westbound on West Avenue H. A person who witnessed the incident reported that the Toyota went through a light that was red, though this has not been confirmed by investigators.
The Toyota collided with another vehicle—described as a Volkswagen Jetta—which had been traveling on 30th Street West and heading north.
The impact of the collision threw three people from the Volkswagen. The victims were identified only as two women and one man. One woman and the man died at the accident site. The other woman was pronounced deceased in the hospital.
According to investigators, none of the occupants of the Jetta were using seat belts when the collision occurred.
The identities of the victims, including their names, ages, and cities of residence, have not been reported. Two dogs who had been traveling with the three victims in the Jetta also died.
Responders transported the person who had been driving the Toyota to a hospital. He later died in the hospital. His name, age, and city of residence has not been reported.
Investigators are working to understand why the collision happened. They are continuing to gather evidence and facts.
