Man Killed While Passenger on Motorcycle in Lakeside Crash
LAKESIDE, CA (July 21, 2020) – On Saturday night, Ryan Ferrara was killed in a motorcycle crash near Lakeside while he was riding as a passenger. The July 18 incident occurred on Piping Rock Lane in the 1300 block.
The time was roughly 9:30 p.m., the Medical Examiner’s Office said.
Reports say Ferrara had been riding as a passenger on a motorcycle, described as a Harley-Davidson. The motorcycle smashed into a vehicle that was parked on the street.
Responders arrived and transported Ferrara to a trauma center, where he died. Ferrara was 39 years old and a resident of El Cajon. He was an engineer with San Diego Fire-Rescue.
Responders also transported the person who had been driving the motorcycle. The patient suffered injuries that were described as severe, according to Jeff Christy. Christy is a public-affairs officer with the California Highway Patrol.
The driver of the motorcycle was identified as a resident of El Cajon, 36 years old. His name has not been reported.
According to the California Highway Patrol, neither victim had been wearing a helmet when the crash occurred.
Investigators are working to understand why the crash happened. They are in the process of gathering information and details.
