Passenger Thrown from Suspected Stolen Truck During Pursuit in Lake Mathews
LAKE MATHEWS, CA (January 13, 2021) – A truck that was suspected stolen led authorities on a chase on Tuesday before rolling numerous times and ejecting a passenger in the area of Lake Mathews. The January 12 chase began in Riverside County, with the suspected stolen vehicle taking numerous roads, such as the 5, 60, 71, and 91 freeways.
The suspect driver exited the freeway in Corona, according to reports.
To stop the suspected stolen truck–which has not been described–deputies executed a PIT maneuver at Harley John Road and Cajalco Road in Lake Mathews. The truck flipped over and over, roughly seven times, and a passenger was thrown from the vehicle.
Medical responders arrived on scene. According to reports, one of the two men who had been traveling in the truck was able to walk from the wreckage. He collapsed afterwards, reports say.
The types of injuries the two men suffered, and their current condition, is not known. Neither person has been identified, including names, ages, and cities of residence. The person who had been driving has not been identified.
The owner of the suspected stolen vehicle has also not been identified.
Investigators are working on the details of the incident.
