Lake Elsinore, CA – Pedestrian Struck and Killed On West Lakeshore Drive at Adam Avenue

LAKE ELSINORE, CA (May 21, 2018) — Lake Elsinore Police Department is investigating the cause of a fatal pedestrian vs. vehicle collision that left the pedestrian dead in Lake Elsinore Monday evening, May 21st. According to Lake Elsinore Police Department Sgt. James Woodland, the collision occurred shortly after 8:30 p.m. when Riverside County Fire Department was summoned to respond to a pedestrian related collision in the 17900 block of West Lakeshore Drive at Adam Avenue.
Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Lake Elsinore
First responders arrived to find a 54-year old man, identified as a Lake Elsinore resident, lying unresponsive in the roadway. Despite resuscitation efforts from paramedics, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian remained at the scene until paramedics and police arrived. The driver refused treatment and was uninjured in the fatal collision. “The Traffic Reconstruction Team of the Lake Elsinore Police Department is conducting a full investigation to determine the cause of the collision,” said Sgt. Woodland. “Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this collision,” he continued. The name of the deceased has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Lakeshore Drive remained closed in both directions for several hours as the coroner’s office retrieved the pedestrian’s body and cleaning crews cleared the roadway of debris.
