10 members of the musical group or band La Reyna de Monterrey have been killed in a vehicular accident on the road. 5 more were injured in the fiery crash. The accident took place in northern Mexico, near Nuevo Laredo.
Police have stated that the driver of the vehicle that crossed into another lane and hit a tractor-trailer head on, was fatigued and had fallen asleep at the wheel when the crash occurred. He fell asleep at the wheel at 8 a.m.
Some of the band members were thrown from the car onto the highway that connects Monterrey and Nuevo Laredo. The band members were from 20 to 25 years old. They had just given a concert on the border of Nuevo Laredo the night before. Their last message to fans was thanking them for their support and love through a Facebook posting.
The band is apart of the Banda music that is so popular in Mexico. Fans are devastated and have posted on all types of social media about the dangers of the road for a touring band and the immense loss they feel with their deaths.
Police are still investigating the accident to ascertain whether or not a crime was committed. No other information has been given about the injured band members or their condition.
