Three Vehicles Crash into Abandoned Car in La Mesa on State Route 125
LA MESA, CA (December 11, 2020) – Early in the morning on Wednesday in La Mesa, a vehicle abandoned on state Route 125 presented a hazard for three vehicles, which crashed into it. The December 9 incident occurred on the northbound side of the roadway, near Lemon Avenue and to the south of it.
The time was a little before 4:40 a.m., Travis Garrow said. Garrow is an officer with the California Highway Patrol.
A vehicle–described as a Honda Accord–went out of a driver’s control, for reasons that are not known. The Honda struck the divider in the center of the road. The driver left the scene on foot, authorities believe, with the vehicle remaining in the lane of traffic.
Minutes after the Honda crashed, three vehicles hit the Honda. The vehicles were described as a Toyota RAV4, whose driver was identified as a woman, 25 years old; a BMW 325, whose driver was a man 50 years old; and a Cadillac Escalade, whose driver was a man 47 years old. The names of the people have not been reported.
Responders transported the three drivers to Sharp Memorial Hospital for treatment of their injuries. The types of injuries they suffered, and their current condition, is not known.
The driver of the Honda has not been identified or described. It is not known from reports if the driver was located by authorities.
Investigators are continuing their work on the crash details.
