Pickup Truck and Skateboarder Collide in La Mesa, Seriously Injuring Man
LA MESA, CA (October 18, 2019) – On Thursday night, a pickup truck and a man riding a skateboard collided in La Mesa, seriously injuring the skateboarder. The October 17 incident occurred on Spring Street close to Finley Street, and near La Mesa Boulevard and to the south of it.
The time was roughly 9:20 p.m., according to Brian Stoney. Stoney is a lieutenant with the La Mesa Police.
Reports say the skateboarder had been riding on Spring Street in the right lane and heading south. A vehicle—described as a Dodge Dakota pickup truck—was also traveling on Spring Street and going south. The two collided.
The impact threw the skateboarder from the skateboard. He rolled over the pickup and fell on the ground, reports say.
Responders arrived and transported the man to a hospital. The injuries he suffered were described as serious. His current condition is not known.
The skateboarder was identified only as a man 25 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
The person who had been driving the truck was identified as a man 52 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported. Reports say he was not hurt in the incident.
