Head-On Collision on Angeles Crest Highway Causes Traffic Delays
LA CAÑADA FLINTRIDGE, CA (June 9, 2025) — A head-on crash early Monday morning on Angeles Crest Highway led to major traffic disruptions and left one vehicle overturned, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The two-vehicle collision occurred just before 6:50 a.m. near mile marker 29.76, about three miles north of La Cañada Flintridge. CHP dispatchers reported the crash involved a black BMW 323 sedan and a white or beige Ford Escape.
The BMW, Stuck On Its Roof, Blocked The Westbound Lanes of Angeles Crest Highway
The BMW overturned onto its roof, blocking the westbound lanes of the mountainous highway. The Ford Escape suffered heavy front-end damage, including issues with the front axle and engine.
Emergency responders from Los Angeles County Fire in La Cañada Flintridge and CHP arrived promptly. At least one person was injured and transported to a hospital, though further details have not been released.
2 Different Tow Companies Were Called In To Clear The Highway
Tow trucks from Jon’s Towing and M&M Action Towing were called in to clear the wreckage. Traffic in both directions was severely impacted during the morning commute while cleanup and recovery efforts continued.
As of 7:18 a.m., lanes remained closed with authorities still working at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. CHP has not confirmed if speed, driver distraction, or road conditions contributed to the collision.
