Sequential Crashes in Jurupa Valley on Van Buren Blvd. Kill Two; Sheriff’s Dept. Personnel Injured
JURUPA VALLEY, CA (March 1, 2021) – Early in the evening on Saturday, two people were killed in crash following a crash in Jurupa Valley. Two personnel with the Riverside County Sheriff’s department were injured in the February 27 incident.
The time was roughly 6:30 p.m., according to authorities.
According to reports, a patrol SUV for the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department had been stopped at a crash site in the area where Van Buren Boulevard and 56th Street intersect. The patrol vehicle had parked with its lights illuminated on the roadway behind the vehicles that had initially crashed, and blocked the number one lane.
No details have been reported on the first crash. The vehicles have not been described.
A vehicle–described as an Amazon delivery van–which had been traveling on Van Buren Boulevard, struck the patrol vehicle that was stopped at the site. The impact sent the patrol SUV into four people who were standing at the site.
Two civilians, and two personnel from the Sheriff’s Department were struck. The two civilians were pronounced deceased at the crash site by responders.
The identities of the two people–including their names, ages, gender, and cities of residence–have not been reported. According to the California Highway Patrol, the two civilians had been the drivers of the two vehicles that initially crashed.
Responders transported the two Sheriff’s Department personnel to Riverside Community Hospital. The injuries they suffered were described as major. The identities of the two people have not been reported.
Responders transported the person who had been driving the Amazon delivery van to a hospital in the area. The types of injuries the person suffered has not been reported. The driver’s identity is not known.
