Driver Charged in Hit-and-Run Crashes in Palm Springs
Palm Springs, CA (May 17, 2024) – Jose Uzaga faces multiple charges, including hit-and-run, after a series of accidents near Museum Way and Palm Canyon Drive on Friday night.
The incidents occurred around 10:15 p.m., according to the Palm Springs Police Department (PSPD). Officers responded to reports of a maroon SUV crashing into barricades in the 100 block of Museum Way. Upon arrival, they observed the driver, later identified as Jose Uzaga, attempting to leave the scene.
Jose Uzaga Was Booked Into John Benoit Detention Center
During his escape, Jose Uzaga allegedly struck the rear window of a business and hit a parked car, pushing it out of the way before fleeing the area. Police quickly apprehended Uzaga and booked him into the John Benoit Detention Center on suspicion of hit-and-run, vandalism, and DUI.
There were no immediate reports of injuries. Authorities are asking anyone with additional information about the incidents to contact the PSPD Traffic Division at 760-323-8125
