Long Beach Man and His 3-year-old Daughter Killed when Pickup Truck Crashes into their Apartment
LONG BEACH, CA (March 3, 2022) – New information about the Long Beach hit-and-run crash on Tuesday night revealed the two victims in the apartment who were killed were a father and his daughter, 3 years old.
Jose Palacios Gonzalez was identified by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office as the father. He was 42 years old.
The March 1 crash occurred on Rose Avenue in the 6600 block.
The time was roughly a little before 10:30 p.m., Jose Flores said. Flores is a lieutenant with Long Beach Police.
A vehicle–described as a Dodge Ram pickup truck–smashed through a wall of the apartment building and came to a stop inside.
Good Samaritans and officers who arrived before medics came on scene tried to help the victims who were inside the apartment.
Responders from the fire department pronounced Gonzalez deceased at the crash site. Responders transported his daughter to a hospital in the area.
She died in the hospital. According to a friends, the girl’s name was Samantha; she was three years old.
Reports say surveillance video recorded a truck going at a fast speed around a corner, and traveling fast along Rose Avenue before it smashed into the apartment building.
A person who reports say witnessed the crash–identified as Eduardo Caballero–described the vehicle crashing inside, and the driver trying to back out.
The suspect hit-and-run driver ran from the crash site. Reports describe him as roughly 20 to 25 years old.
