Vehicle Crashes inside Restaurant in Huntington Park, Injuring Three People
HUNTINGTON PARK, CA (April 2, 2019) – A vehicle crashed into a restaurant Monday afternoon in Huntington Park, injuring three people. The April 1 accident occurred at the Carl’s Jr. restaurant located on the corner of Santa Fe Avenue and Florence Avenue.
The time was roughly 3:40 p.m., Alfred Martinez said. Martinez is a lieutenant with the Huntington Park Police.
Reports say that a vehicle—described as a Toyota sedan—had been traveling northbound on Santa Fe Avenue. The Toyota and another vehicle collided, and the impact sent the Toyota toward the Carl’s Jr. restaurant.
The Toyota went over the sidewalk, traveled through bushes growing alongside the fast-food restaurant’s drive-thru lane, and then smashed into the dining area’s window. The vehicle ended up inside the restaurant, almost completely.
The person who had been driving the Toyota—identified as a woman—suffered injuries that were described as minor. Her identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
Two people who were inside of the restaurant suffered injuries that were described as significant. Martinez said the victims were minors. Their identities, including names, ages, gender, and cities of residence, have not been reported.
Respondents took the victims to hospitals in the area. Vanessa Lozano, who is with the Los Angeles County Fire Department, said one of the victims was transported to a trauma center.
The driver of each vehicle involved in the collision stayed at the accident site and cooperated with the investigation. The identity of the driver of the other vehicle has not been reported.
Investigators are examining the details and information regarding the accident. No details have been reported on the circumstances leading to the collision. Building and Safety Department inspectors examined the structural integrity of the building. The investigation is ongoing.
