Five People Injured in Crash in Homeland; Gas Line Damage Leads to Evacuations
RIVERSIDE, CA (December 31, 2018) – A crash in Homeland in Riverside County in the evening on Saturday injured five people and damaged a gas line, leading to the evacuation of residents in the area. The December 29 accident occurred on Highway 74 in the 32000 block.
The time was roughly 10:17 p.m.
According to reports, five people suffered injuries in the crash, which were described as major. Respondents transported the victims to a hospital in the area. It is not clear from reports if any other vehicle was involved in the crash. The identities of the people injured, their names, ages, gender, and cities of residence have not yet been reported. When respondents from CalFire/Riverside County arrived on scene, they located a gas leak. The road was closed, and respondents evacuated residents in the area due to the gas line rupture. Reports say that 21 people from six residences had to be evacuated.
Respondents from Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department Hazardous Materials Team and from the Southern California Gas Company worked to fix the gas leak. No damages were reported from the leaking gas.
Investigators are examining the information to find out what caused the car to crash, and then strike the gas line. No details have yet been reported.
