One Person Injured in Hollywood When 2 Vehicles Drive into Protestors for Justice for Breonna Taylor

HOLLYWOOD, CA (September 25, 2020) – On Thursday night in Hollywood, one person was struck and injured when two vehicles drove into a large number of protestors who were gathered for justice for Breonna Taylor. The first September 24 crash occurred on Sunset Boulevard in the 6500 block, in an area between Schrader Boulevard and Seward Street.

The time was roughly 8:54 p.m., according to police.

A vehicle–described as a Ford pickup truck–went past a crowd of protestors, and struck a person. Reports say the gathered crowd began hitting the vehicle and chasing after it.

The truck continued away and, according to reports, a vehicle–described as a Mustang, green in color–followed behind until police arrived.

Officers detained the pickup truck’s driver, and took him into custody. His identity has not been reported.

Responders transported an injured person to a hospital in the area, according to Nicholas Prange. Prange is a spokesperson with the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The victim suffered injuries that were described as minor, reports say. The identity of the victim has not been reported.

Roughly a half hour later, a vehicle–described as a Prius, white in color–went into a number of protestors who were standing close to the Cahuenga Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard intersection. The Prius then drove off.

A vehicle–described as a pickup truck–drove in front of the Prius and blocked it. Reports say a person exited the truck and walked to the Prius to attempt to make the driver stop the vehicle.

The Prius’ driver is reported to have put the vehicle in reverse, and the Prius struck a vehicle that was in back of it. The vehicle that was struck may have been the Mustang that pursued the first pickup truck that had gone into the crowd.

Reports say the Prius fled the scene, but within a few blocks, the driver was stopped, according to police. No one was hurt in the second crash, police said.

None of the people involved in the two crash incidents have been identified in reports. Investigators are continuing their work to gather information and details.
