Hit-and-run Suspect Identified in Crash that Killed a Father and Daughter in a Long Beach Apartment

LONG BEACH, CA (March 11, 2022) – The Long Beach Police Department identified the suspect driver in a hit-and-run crash that killed a father and daughter in their apartment. The suspect in last week’s crash was identified as Octavio Montano Islas, 24 years old.

Authorities believe Islas was the driver of a Ram pickup truck that smashed into an apartment building, killing two people inside.

The two victims were identified as Jose Palacios Gonzalez, 42 years old, and his daughter, Samantha, 3 years old.

Video from a surveillance camera recorded the March 1 incident. In it, reports say, a pickup truck can be seen going around a corner at a fast speed and continuing at a fast speed on Rose Avenue.

The pickup truck then smashes into the apartment.

The person driving the pickup truck ran from the crash site.

Investigators identified the suspect as Islas, and they are searching for him.

Reports say he is 5 feet, 8 inches in height. His right forearm has tattoos, according to police.

If anyone has information about the crash, the person can call Long Beach Police.
