Los Angeles Hit-and-run Driver Kills 91-years-old Woman Near The University of Southern California Campus
LOS ANGELES, CA (August 4, 2021) – Soon Kim, a 91-year-old woman, was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in South Los Angeles early in the morning on Monday. The August 2 crash occurred in the neighborhood of University Park near the University of Southern California campus, on Ellendale Place close to where Adams Boulevard is located.
The time was roughly 7:00 a.m., Los Angeles Police said.
Kim had been going across an alley and walking with a walker. A vehicle–which was traveling in reverse in the alley–struck her. Reports say the incident was captured on video. A driver can been seen exiting the vehicle–described as a pickup truck–after hitting the victim.
According to police, the driver–described as a woman–saw the victim was down on the roadway. The driver, reports say, re-entered the vehicle and moved the truck out of the area. She then stood in the vicinity for a few minutes, and re-entered the pickup truck and drove away.
Responders arrived and transported the victim to the hospital. Kim died from the injuries she suffered. She was identified by family members.
Investigators are searching for the pickup truck involved in the crash, and the suspect driver. If anyone has information about the crash, the person can contact Officer Lopez Del Haro, or Officer Pollard. The number is 323-421-2500.
