High-Speed Pursuit Ends In Crash

Not surprisingly, Los Angeles is the high-speed pursuit capital of the world. With so many freeways, it’s easy for criminals to think that they can escape justice by eluding police. This may be true for a short period of time, but sooner or later, police will eventually catch up to the perpetrators and haul them off to jail or prison.
The main problem with high-speed chases, however, is that they can cause immense devastation. So many innocent people have been injured or killed during police pursuits. Many police pursuits also end violently.
A Thursday morning police pursuit ended in Inglewood after a suspected car thief’s vehicle slammed into a pickup and minivan, sending two people to the hospital with minor injuries.
The chase began when Los Angeles police officers spotted a reported stolen vehicle about 7:20 a.m. near Imperial Highway and South Central Boulevard. It ended less than an hour later after the suspected car thief led police on a high-speed chase along the 105 Freeway before turning onto Crenshaw Boulevard.
Television footage showed the vehicle hit the back of the pickup, sending it spinning before it flipped over. The vehicle then crossed into oncoming traffic and hit the van head-on.
The suspected car thief, whose name has not been released, was taken into custody at the scene of the crashes.
One person in one of the vehicles suffered cuts and another complained of chest pains. Both were taken to a local hospital.
The suspected car thief did not appear to suffer any injuries.
