Driver Suffers Medical Emergency, Crashes into House and Tree in Hemet
HEMET, CA (February 21, 2019) – A driver suffered a medical emergency and crashed into a yard and a house in Hemet before smashing into a tree, which stopped the vehicle. The February 20 accident occurred in the community of Seven Hills, on Silver Oak Way in the 2600 block.
The time was roughly 1:00 p.m., according to the Hemet Police Department.
Reports say that a vehicle—described as a Toyota truck, white in color—entered a home’s front yard, hit the house, and then smashed into a tree. When officers arrived at the accident site, they saw the truck was smashed into the tree and the rear tires were still spinning very fast. Smoke was rising from the area where the tires were spinning. If not for the tree, the truck would be racing away.
Officers saw that the driver was not conscious, and his foot was depressing the accelerator to the floor. With all doors locked and windows up, officers had to smash a side window on the passenger side to access the ignition and turn it off. The driver was suffering a medical emergency, according to police.
The driver—identified as 66 years old and a resident of Hemet—was not conscious and did not know he had been in a crash. Paramedics treated the man at the accident site. The victim’s name has not been reported.
It is not known from reports if the victim was taken to a hospital. Reports from police say that no one was hurt in the incident. The identities of the homeowners have not been reported, and it is not known if they were home at the time of the incident.
