Woman Identified as Victim Killed in Harmony ATV Crash
HARMONY, CA (December 23, 2020) – Tanya Corrine Hendry was identified by the California Highway Patrol as the victim who was killed early in the morning on Monday in an ATV crash near Harmony. The December 21 incident occurred near Alapay Way.
The time was roughly 3:50 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Hendry had been a passenger on an ATV with three other people. The ATV was reported to have plunged off a cliff and into the ocean below.
The person driving the rented ATV, and two passengers, were able to exit the ATV. They went for help. A person at the campsite where they had been earlier removed Hendry from the crashed vehicle before responders came on site.
Hendry died at the crash site. She was a resident of Paso Robles, 34 years old.
Responders transported the driver and one of the passengers to San Luis Obispo’s Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center. The driver suffered injuries described as moderate.
The passenger suffered injuries described as minor. The other passenger suffered injuries described as minor, but did not want to be taken to the hospital, reports say.
Authorities arrested the driver. She was charged with gross vehicular manslaughter and DUI.
She was identified as Maria Arayza, a resident of Los Angeles, 35 years old.
The two surviving passengers were identified as a man who is a resident of Long Beach, 42 years old; and a man who is a resident of Germany, 46 years old. Their names have not been reported.
Investigators are continuing to work on the incident.
