Elderly Man Hit and Killed Thanksgiving Morning in Granada Hills
GRANADA HILLS, CA (November 26, 2018) – An elderly man who was walking early in the morning on Thanksgiving was hit and killed in Granada Hills. The November 22 accident occurred on Balboa Boulevard, to the south of the off-ramp for the 118 Freeway, Daniel Menesez said. Menesez is a detective with the Los Angeles Police Department.
The time was roughly a little after 3:00 a.m.
According to reports, the man—identified as a 70-year-old resident of Granada Hills was attempting to walk across Balboa Boulevard, from the east side to the west side. A vehicle—described as a 2010 Ford Focus—that had been heading south hit the victim.
According to Menesez, the pedestrian was walking across in a location where he should not have been. Menesez said signs are located in the area that tell people not to walk across in that spot.
Menesez said the person who had been driving the vehicle stopped at the accident scene and waited.
No details have yet been reported on the name of the victim. The identity of the driver has also not yet been reported.
Investigators are looking into the accident information.
