Gov. Christie’s opponent was in a minor accident

Posted on February 12, 2013 | Written By: iadminlaw

Gov. Chris Christie’s challenger, Sen. Barbara Buono (D) was in a minor car accident Monday evening. She suffered minor cuts on her face.  The crash happened at about 8 pm and she was being driven by a staff assistant. At the time of the accident, she was sitting in the back seat and not wearing a seat belt.

Her spokesman said she was taken to the hospital for as a precautionary measure. She is currently back at work and functioning fine after her release.

He continued to say that the senator is thankful for the lack of injuries and that the situation was not worse or more serious. A lot of well-wishers have gotten into contact with her, who she thanked as well.

She claimed that this was a lesson to everyone to wear their seat belts. A previous governor was killed in a car accident in 2007 while he rode in the front seat.

The current governor is leading 62 to 20 percent and it is unlikely that Buono will move ahead in the polls since she is not well-known. The accident is probably another step back for her as she has to deal with the mounting talk about her lack of safety precautions. It was a minor accident, but she could have been seriously injured and if others on her staff or her family, rode the back seat without any seat belt being worn.
