Gardena Wrong-way Collision on 110 Freeway Kills Man, Injures Woman
GARDENA, CA (February 2, 2021) – Early in the morning on Monday, a wrong-way crash in Gardena killed a man, and injured a woman. The February 1 incident occurred on the 110 Freeway.
The time was roughly 12:40 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities received reports that a vehicle was traveling northbound in the lanes that head south. In an area near Gardena Boulevard, the wrong-way vehicle collided with another vehicle. Neither vehicle has been described.
Responders arrived and found the person who had been driving the vehicle the wrong way died at the crash site. He was identified only as 23 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
The person who had been driving the other vehicle suffered injuries that include a broken arm, leg, and pelvis. Responders transported her to Harbor UCLA Medical Center.
Her current condition is not known. She was identified only as 22 years old. Her name and city of residence have not been reported.
Investigators are continuing to work on the incident.
