Vehicle Catches Fire in Garden Grove Crash, Causing Injuries
GARDEN GROVE, CA (October 23, 2018) – A crash in the early morning hours on Tuesday in Garden Grove caused a vehicle to erupt in flames. The October 23 accident occurred close to where Main Street and Euclid Street intersect.
The time was roughly 1:11 a.m., J. Delgado said. Delgado is a sergeant with the Garden Grove Police Department.
According to reports, the driver was heading south on Euclid and his vehicle went out of control. The vehicle hit a light pole and a bench at a bus stop.
When responders from the police and fire department arrived, the vehicle was totally on fire.
Three occupants of the vehicle, one of whom was the driver, escaped the wreck. Authorities found them close to the accident scene.
Responders took one person who had been traveling as a passenger to the hospital. The victim’s injuries were described as moderate.
According to Delgado, the driver—identified as a 24 year old—made statements at the accident scene about his impairment while he was operating the vehicle. Police arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
