Man in Wheelchair Killed Crossing Commonwealth Avenue
FULLERTON, CA (March 13, 2025) – A man in a wheelchair was struck and killed late Thursday night while crossing West Commonwealth Avenue at Library Lane, according to the Fullerton Police Department.
The fatal crash occurred around 10:50 p.m. on March 13. Responding officers attempted life-saving measures before paramedics from the Fire Department arrived, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Man Crossing Street Against A Red Light Before He was Struck
Investigators determined the man was crossing northbound at the intersection when he was struck by a gray Hyundai traveling westbound on Commonwealth. Police said the traffic signal was red at the time of the collision.
The driver, a 41-year-old local resident, remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
Authorities Encourage Any Witnesses To Come Forward
Officers noted the pedestrian had alcohol with him, though it remains unclear if he had been drinking before the crash.
