One Person Dies in Collision Involving Suspect Driver of Stolen Vehicle in Fullerton
FULLERTON, CA (April 2, 2019) – A collision involving a person suspected of driving a stolen vehicle killed one person in Fullerton in the morning on Monday. The April 1 accident occurred close to where Valencia Drive and Euclid Street intersect.
The time was roughly 9:50 a.m., Jon Radus said. Radus is a lieutenant with the Fullerton Police.
Reports say witnesses called police regarding a person who was driving a Toyota Highlander recklessly, and speeding. According to Radus, the driver was seen acting in an erratic manner.
Police think the Toyota struck a Honda Accord broadside. The impact sent the Honda to smash into a pylon. Both vehicles had significant damage.
A person who had been traveling as a passenger in the Honda died at the accident scene. The victim was identified as male. His name, age, and city of residence have not been reported. Respondents took the Honda’s driver to a trauma center. She suffered injuries that were described as significant, but not life-threatening. Her name, age, and city of residence have not been reported.
The person who had been driving the Toyota was arrested, and transported to a hospital. According to police, the vehicle was reported stolen. The suspect driver was identified as Randy Lamar Wilkins, 39 years old and a resident of Long Beach. Wilkins was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, driving a stolen vehicle, driving on a suspended license, and bringing a controlled substance into a custody facility.
Investigators are continuing their examination of the details and evidence related to the incident.
