Metrolink Train Hits and Kills Man on Tracks in Fullerton
FULLERTON, CA (January 30, 2019) – A Metrolink train hit and killed a man who was walking on the tracks Tuesday afternoon in Fullerton. The January 29 accident occurred near the Fullerton station and roughly 1.3 miles to the west of it, according to Paul Gonzales. Gonzales is a spokesperson with Metrolink.
The time was roughly 3:00 p.m.
Gonzales said the man was walking in an area where no crossings are close by. Euclid Street is the closest street to the accident site, and the street passes beneath the railroad tracks.
According to Carin Wright, who is a sergeant with the Fullerton Police, the victim was pronounced deceased in the hospital. The identity of the victim, including his name, age, and city of residence has not yet been reported.
Reports say that investigators have not yet discovered why the man was on the tracks. The train that hit the man was described as the Orange County Line No. 684, which was traveling south. According to reports, other trains on other lines in the Southern California area were also delayed due to the accident.
No other details are available regarding the circumstances surrounding the crash. Investigators are examining the details to find out what led to it.
