Crash in Fullerton on Raymond Street Kills Man; Driver Suspected of DUI
FULLERTON, CA (December 16, 2019) – A crash in Fullerton in the afternoon on Friday killed a man, and authorities arrested a driver on suspicion of DUI. The December 13 incident occurred on Raymond Street where Orangefair Lane intersects, near Commercenter Anaheim.
The time was roughly 3:00 p.m., according to Jon Radus. Radus is a lieutenant with Fullerton Police.
Reports say the incident was recorded by a surveillance camera. Video shows a vehicle—described as a Dodge Ram pickup truck, white in color—traveling at a fast speed and heading southbound on Raymond. The Dodge strikes a vehicle—described as a Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu—that was in the process of making a left turn to Orangefair Lane.
The impact of the collision caused the truck to rollover. The Chevrolet was wrecked, reports say.
The person who had been driving the Chevrolet died at the incident site. He was identified only as 80 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
The person who had been driving the Dodge pickup was identified only as 25 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported. He suffered injuries that were described as moderate, and responders transported him to a hospital.
Authorities arrested the driver of the pickup truck on suspicion of driving under the influence resulting in death.
According to Lieutenant Radus, a third vehicle was involved in the incident, but it is not clear how or where the third vehicle was struck.
The third vehicle has not been described. It is not known if anyone in the third vehicle was injured. The driver of the third vehicle has not been identified in reports.
