Fresno Female Rescuer Dies

Fresno, CA – A car hits a woman crossing the highway. She was trying to rescue two others injured in a separate car crash early Wednesday morning.

Two women were traveling northbound on Fresno’s Highway 99 at about 1:30 a.m. near West McKinley after a birthday celebration when they witnessed a Buick crashing into the concrete median. In an effort to help, they pulled over to the shoulder and began to cross the highway. One of the women, whose birthday they had been celebrating was struck by an oncoming vehicle.
Police and paramedics already on their way to respond to the first crash discovered the 25-year old woman lying on the highway dead.
The person in the vehicle that struck her earlier had stopped to help but fled as soon as police arrived. The degree of injury of the two people in the Buick are unknown, they fled on foot as well.
Authorities urge others to be cautious if they must walk through a highway, otherwise, they should always wait for authorities to arrive and handle the situation. The accident remains under investigation.
