Woman Struck and Killed on Brookhurst Street in Fountain Valley
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA (November 23, 2020) – Late in the afternoon on Sunday, Lavonne Perez was struck and killed in a parking lot in Fountain Valley. The November 21 incident occurred at 18405 Brookhurst Street.
The time was roughly 4:30 p.m., Fountain Valley Police said.
The driver of a vehicle–described as a Lexus SUV–had been backing the parked vehicle out of a space in the parking lot and struck Perez. The vehicle then went over the victim, reports say.
Responders arrived and transported Perez to the hospital. She was pronounced deceased in the hospital.
Perez was a resident of Fountain Valley, 85 years old, according to Kelley Keyes. Keyes is a deputy coroner for Orange County.
The person who had been driving the vehicle remained at the incident site and cooperated with the investigation. She was identified only as a resident of Fountain Valley, 70 years old. Her name has not been reported.
Investigators are continuing to work to gather details regarding the incident. If anyone has information about the incident, the person can call the traffic bureau of the Fountain Valley Police Department. The number is 714-593-4481.
