Driver of Stolen Car Enters the 15 Freeway In The Wrong Direction and Immediately Regrets It
FONTANA, CA (August 12, 2024) – A wrong-way driver was killed in a collision with a semi-truck on the 15 Freeway at Summit Avenue on the afternoon of August 12, according to reports.
The fatal crash occurred around 1:40 p.m. when a driver in a reportedly stolen tan Chevy SUV was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of the freeway at speeds of up to 80 miles per hour. The SUV exited the Summit Avenue on-ramp and collided with a semi-truck, which may have been idling at the time of impact.
8 Patrol Cars Arrived To Assist With Accident On The 15 Freeway
Emergency responders, including eight patrol vehicles from the Fontana Police Department, arrived at the scene to close the on-ramp and assist with the situation.
The driver, who was the sole occupant of the stolen vehicle, died at the scene. Authorities have not yet identified the deceased.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation as police work to clarify the details of the incident.
