Driver Fleeing Police Pursuit Crashes into Vehicle in Fontana, Killing One

FONTANA, CA (January 21, 2021) – A driver who is alleged to have been fleeing from police collided with another vehicle in Fontana, killing one person and seriously injuring two others. The January 20 crash occurred at Beech Avenue off of the 210 Freeway.

The time was roughly 12:15 p.m., according to police.

The incident began at roughly 12:05 p.m. when officers with the Fontana Police Department initiated pursuit of a vehicle, which has not been described. The suspect traveled through Fontana, Rialto, and Rancho Cucamonga, with authorities pursuing.

The suspect left the 210 Freeway where Beech Avenue is located, and is alleged to have gone through the intersection without stopping. The suspect’s vehicle collided with another vehicle, which has also not been described.

Responders arrived and pronounced one of the occupants of the vehicle that was struck deceased at the crash site. The person’s identity has not been reported.

Responders transported the other occupant of the vehicle that was struck to a hospital. The person suffered injuries that were described as major. The person’s identity has also not been reported.

The suspect was also transported to a hospital. The types of injuries the person suffered has not been reported.

The identity of the suspect is not known. No details have been reported on the events that led to the pursuit of the suspect.
