It has been a year of recalls in the automobile industry. First Toyota and now General Motors Co is recalling 13,680 cars globally. The reason for the recall is to address potential problems with improperly tightened suspension bolts.  Other problems include faulty airbags, according to the company. The U.S. safety regulators have also filed documents involving this recall. The issues have not resulted in any physical accidents or injuries, according to General Motors.

GM is recalling 8,519 2013 model year Chevrolet Malibu sedans in the United States. This is for problems involving the suspension. The problem is that one or more rear suspension bolts may not have been tightened properly. As you can imagine, this could lead to a driver losing control of the vehicle. This would increase the risk of a unnecessary car accident, according to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

General Motors is recalling another 1,060 of the cars in various other countries, which include Canada, Mexico and overseas, General Motors said. Owners should look for obnoxious noises and minor handling issues in vehicle, NHTSA claimed. General Motors has just begun to inform the vehicle owners.

General Motors also is recalling 3,896 2012 model year Buick Verano, and Chevy Camaro, Cruze and Sonic cars in the United States. But, this is for a different problem. This recall is being administered to address potentially faulty airbags, according to the NHTSA. An additional 205 cars were affected by the recall in Canada, General Motors said.

The driver side front airbag has a shorting bar that may intermittently contact the airbag terminals. This is a problem because there is a possibility that this will cause the airbags not to deploy. This will increase the risk of injuries, according to the NHTSA. The recall is expected to begin on February 13 of this year. General Motors is claiming that this recall is an expansion of one from last fall.
