Vehicle Falls Off I-15 Overpass in Fallbrook After Collision; One Person Dies
FALLBROOK, CA (March 16, 2020) – Late in the afternoon on Saturday in Fallbrook, two vehicles collided, and one of the vehicles fell off an I-15 overpass. One person died in the March 14 incident, which occurred on the southbound side of the freeway.
The time was roughly 5:40 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
Reports say two vehicles collided, and one of the vehicles—described only as a sedan, silver in color—fell off an overpass of I-15, where Mission Road is located. It landed on a surface street below the freeway.
According to reports, a person who witnessed the incident told authorities that three vehicles had been racing, one of which was the silver-colored car. The other two vehicles have not been described. According to the witness, the silver car may have been going as fast as 100 miles per hour at the time it crashed and went off the freeway.
Reports say the silver car collided with another vehicle before going off the freeway, but the details have not been reported, and the sequence of events is not clear.
Responders arrived and pronounced one person deceased at the incident site. The identity of the person, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported. It is not known if the person had been a driver or passenger.
