Driver Strikes and Kills Two Adults and Two Children Walking on Bear Valley Parkway in Escondido
ESCONDIDO, CA (May 6, 2020) – On Tuesday night, a driver struck and killed two adults and two children who were walking in Escondido. The May 5 incident occurred along Bear Valley Parkway, close to where Oak Hill Drive is located.
The time was roughly a little before 8:30 p.m., according to Scott Walters. Walters is a lieutenant with Escondido Police.
Reports say a driver had been traveling on Bear Valley Parkway and, for reasons that are not known, the vehicle struck four pedestrians: a woman, a man, and two boys. Reports do not say where the pedestrians had been walking, whether they were crossing the road, walking along it, or on a sidewalk.
Responders arrived and found that two of the victims died at the incident site. Responders transported the other two injured people to Palomar Medical Center.
The two others died in the hospital. The identities of the victims have not been reported.
The driver was identified only as a woman from Escondido, 28 years old. Her name has not been reported.
Investigators are working to understand how the crash happened, and what circumstances may have contributed to it. No other details are known at this time.
